The statement declares that the prison under itscurrent configuration is inadequate for the increasing number of prisoners that have been lodged therein rendering it almost impossible to separate different classes of prisoners. The Keeper, Peter Holt, requests that the lower part of the prison ought to be restored to its original use and reunited to the Common Gaol to create more space for prisoners.
