Series consists of dolls and related objects from the 18th through 20th centuries, including those in china, bisque, wax, papier-mâché, wood, cloth, felt, ivory, metal, wire, and other materials. The dolls represent a range of geographic origins, including Germany, France, England, the United States, China, Russia Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Italy, Basque Spain, Sweden, Yugoslavia, Greece, Bermuda, Canada, and Indigenous peoples of North America. The series includes specific items such as mechanical dolls and theatrical and literary characters. Several dolls depict regional dress and national costumes. Related objects include doll clothing and trunks, doll bedding, doll china plates, a doll’s cradle, a Punch and Judy show set, a Chinese theatre scene with lantern, birchbark quill-decorated furniture, and an envelope of paper doll clothes.
