Ruth Taylor was born on January 10, 1961, in Lachine, Quebec.

She was a Canadian poet, editor, and college teacher. She attended John Abbott College, McGill University (B.A.), and Concordia University (M.A., 1993). From 1986 to 2006, she taught English literature at John Abbott College and was a member of the informal Lakeshore Poets. She took part in and was a tireless organizer of numerous readings and spoken word festivals. Taylor was the author of three collections of poetry, “The Drawing Board” (1988); “Dragon Papers” (1994), a finalist for the A. M. Klein Prize for Poetry; and “Comet Wine” (2007), published posthumously.

She died of alcohol poisoning on February 18, 2006, in Montreal, Quebec.
